Honda New Odyssey – The Elegant MPV
Honda Motor Co., Japan launched one of its flagship products in the MPV segment, namely the Honda New Odyssey. This Honda MPV model experienced a total change. A new feature of Honda New Odyssey is the bodywork that is more flat. For this, Honda reduced height of the floor of Honda New Odyssey, including the roof. Even so, the interior space of this MPV is wider than the previous version. The total height of this MPV is now 1545 mm.
Variants
There are three variants of the Honda New Odyssey, i.e. M, L and Li. The Honda New Odyssey also offers two drive systems, i.e. the front wheel and 4 x 4 (4WD). And more luxury versions will also be launched later, namely the Absolute with a sporty appearance and a more ferocious engine.
For the interior, there are also several variants, among others, the color “gold” which gives sporty and dynamic impression, black with elegant impression. The equipment that included in each variant is different.
Appearance
Honda New Odyssey appears more stylish, elegant and sporty than its predecessor due to contour and the corners of the round body. According to Honda, the new concept was applied to the target can generate feelings of people to see, take and drive, then of course, enjoy the car as a modern family vehicle that is comfortable and safe.
Bodywork of this vehicle is more streamlined. Honda called it more sensual and dynamic. From the side, this vehicle looks like a fluid silhouette with a single line of movement from the front hood to the back roof (the concept is used as teaser ads before the MPV was launched).
Another development is to improve the quality of the pillars of the door. The aim is to be more powerful but the dimensions would be minimized. With this, in addition to be more secure, it also gives a wider view, both for drivers and passengers.
New Technology
This Honda MPV is equipped with new safety technology, i.e. the camera system from various angles. For special versions, there are also additional front seat that can be set (up and down or rotated) by just pressing a button.
This Honda New Odyssey is the fourth generation of the Honda Odyssey which was introduced in 1994. This latest version further prioritizes the relationship between humans and machines. Honda hopes, this vehicle can give freedom to all passengers and creates different atmosphere mobility.
The consumer expectations that offered by Honda on this new product is more efficient in fuel consumption and lower environmental emissions. For that, Honda installed 2.4-liter engine, DOHC, i-VTEC plus CVT transmission that work as a torque converter (the combination of conventional automatic and CVT). Explained, in addition to fuel and emissions targets could be achieved, the performance of vehicles is also growing steadily and satisfactorily.
Based on test result for the standard version of Honda New Odyssey, the fuel consumption is 13.2 km / liter. For that, all the control features use DBW or “drive by wire”. There is also additional ECON mode to produce more efficiency fuel, which is a combination of controlling the CVT and air conditioner to reduce engine load.
